Local Euro MP Wallis welcomes Clegg as new Lib Dem leader

Local Liberal Democrat Euro MP, Diana Wallis, has welcomed the election of fellow Yorkshire Parliamentarian, Nick Clegg, as the party's new leader.

Diana Wallis, a Vice President of the European Parliament, said after the result was announced:

"I worked with Nick in the European Parliament for several years and I know he will bring a vitality to the role and that is why I supported his bid to become leader.

For me it is a plus on two grounds; one that he is a Yorkshire parliamentarian and secondly he knows the EU so well."
